Sianel Pedwar Cymru (S4C)

Welcome to our section looking at Sianel Pedwar Cymru, better known as S4C. S4C was the forth terrestrial channel to go on the air – launching on the 1st November 1982.

S4C is a Welsh language channel and its name translated into English is Channel Four Wales. It launched the day before its sister channel. S4C would be shown in Wales in place of Channel Four until the launch of digital television since when both S4C and Channel Four are shown. Before this, Channel Four was only available on cable and satellite TV services in Wales

Although they share the same name, they are not actually run by the same people with S4C being a separate organisation.

This section will take a look at the history of S4C, the on screen presentation over the years, along with looking at news and weather presentation and other related S4C content.

To make this section easier to navigate, we have split it down into sections. To view a section, just click on its picture.
