Welcome to our section looking at the Channel 5 Television. As the name suggests, Channel 5 was the fifth, national terrestrial service to be transmitted in the UK. It first went on the air on the 30th March 1997. It would also be the last terrestrial channel to launch.
The launch of Channel 5 would not be an easy one, due to interference caused by existing channels resulting in a major retuning exercise. In some areas, such as the South of England, the channel would remain unavailable via terrestrial television, although was available on satellite and cable services
This section will take a look at the history of Channel 5, and the presentation on its channels, past and present, along with looking at news and weather presentation and other related Channel 5 content.
